I recently had a baby, and boy, can I tell you how hard it is. She is my first, and I am adjusting to a new life. But one thing I can tell all new moms, you have to carve out some “me” time every once in a while. Even if it is simple things like:

—getting your significant other to get up in the middle of the night to attend to the little ones needs sometimes
—getting the adoring grandparent (s) to babysit every once in a while
—getting friends with “baby envy” to babysit every once in a while

Anytime you can manage a time out for yourself, it will enable you to rejuvenate so that you can give your little one your all.

I`m mom and dad to my 3,2 and 6 month old. There mother passed away and not only am I heartbroken but now I have the madness of 3 toddlers on my own. I`m trying to sign up on a lot of mom websites because I`m afraid I`ll be to fatherly. My poor little one`s. I also have to work from home. I am losing my mind. I cannot afford help. My mom and dad come by once a week. They live to far away to come down more. I`m going to move closer to them soon so I have more help. I saw this Subjst, Taking time out. I need to learn how to get 5 -10 minute`s here and their or I`m going to go nuts.

I know that a lot of mothers are so happy their baby is asleep so they can clean, wash dishes, do laundry, whatever. While that is smart, I would take some of those moments to sleep when your baby sleeps. You need your rest too!

Yes I know some mothers who never took time for themselves when they had kids and turned out to be very bitter and sometimes even divorced. I would def recommend some “you” time. It’s not selfish, it’s actually you thinking about the future and the health of your whole family.

The stressed, unfulfilled, overworked parent is a less than an optimal parent. Making time for yourself is important for moms. It is a means of recharging and refocusing so you can reconnect with your family. The result is healthier moms and healthier families. Whether you’re the mother of toddlers or troubled teens, work inside the home or out— if you’re exhausted from trying to be perfect time out is really important to rejuvenate oneself by having a time to go out and enjoy.

Having a baby especially when it’s your first time is absolutely super stressful. I can remember when I had my Zooey just last October, I was totally stressed, having a baby really changes everything! Now she’s 8 months old, well things are pretty running smooth now. smile

Anyways, just don’t be too hard on yourself when having a baby, always find time to relax even for just a couple of minutes, enjoy being a parent, enjoy having your baby around because they will never be babies forever, time flies fast. Play with them as many times as you could, and take hundreds of photos, it’s actually one of my fav thing to do with my little girl then I organized all my fav photos of her in a baby album where it’s easy access.
