You will receive the results of the hearing screen and the critical congenital heart defect (CCHD) screen before you go home from the hospital. The results of blood test will be given to your baby’s pediatrician or healthcare provider for your follow-up visit at 2 weeks. You may get a call from your baby’s healthcare office before that if one of the blood tests is positive or “out of range.”
Be sure to ask about the results if your baby’s doctor or nurse doesn’t mention the newborn screens at your two-week visit.
