What if the newborn screening results are positive?

Positive or “out of range” newborn screening tests do not always mean that your baby has a problem. If any one of the tests is positive, your baby will need to have additional testing. This may include repeating a test or having a different test. For example, if the newborn hearing screen is positive, your baby will need to have a full hearing test before 3 months of age. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions and get the information you need to help promote your baby’s health.
