If you are at a normal, healthy weight (your body mass index is 18-25), you should expect to gain about 25-35 pounds. If you’re overweight, your pregnancy provider may recommend that you gain less weight, approximately 11-20 pounds. If you’re obese, your provider may recommend that you do not gain much weight at all, or less than 10 pounds. Don’t worry if you’re in the latter category, your baby will still grow normally, drawing from your body’s stores.
