How should I keep my baby’s nails trimmed?

Baby’s fingers are so tiny; it’s every parent’s fear that they will cut baby as they trim away. Purchase infant clippers specifically for babies—the most fun ones are animal shapes that appear to be “munching” on baby’s fingers during the nail trim!

Trim nails when baby is deep asleep; this will take away the fear and fascination. Or trim after baby’s bath when her nails are softer. You can also trim your own nails as you trim baby’s, making it something you do together.
Follow the curves of baby’s fingers as you trim but remember to cut toe nails straight across to avoid ingrown edges. A light swish of a soft emery board following a trim will ensure there are no jagged or sharp edges.
