The CPSC have reannounced the recall of Portable Dehumidifiers produced by LG Electronics Tianjin Appliance Company.
The power connector for the dehumidifier’s compressor can short circuit, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. They were previously recalled in December 2009 but there has since been additional reports of fires, including one that resulted in significant damage to a home.
This recall involves 30-pint white portable dehumidifiers with “Goldstar” or “Comfort-Aire” printed on the front. They were sold at The Home Depot, Walmart and Heat Controller Inc. nationwide from January 2007 through June 2008 for $140- $150.
