About the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
The mission of AWHONN is to empower and support nurses caring for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy. AWHONN achieves its mission by making a difference in the lives of women and newborns. Our nurse members are committed to the health of women and newborns.
AWHONN is committed to promoting diversity throughout the organization by recruiting, retaining and mentoring a diverse workforce of women’s health and maternal child nurses. We are dedicated to integrate cultural competence and diversity into all aspects of our work and the communities we serve.
Healthy Mom&Baby magazine and website is advice from our more than 24,000 nurse members who work in all aspects of women’s health and mother/baby care. The articles are written by expert nurses and provide the same advice women receive from their pregnancy care providers for an optimal healthy pregnancy, birth, beginning breastfeeding and infant care, postpartum recovery and safe and healthy first year post-birth.
Since 1969, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) has been the foremost authority promoting the health of women and newborns and strengthening the nursing profession through the delivery of superior advocacy, research, education, and other professional and clinical resources. AWHONN represents the interests of 350,000 registered nurses working in women’s health, obstetric, and neonatal nursing across the United States. Learn more about AWHONN at www.awhonn.org.
