November 9, 2009—Maclaren recallls over 1 Million strollers because 12 children have had their fingertips amputated. The umbrella strollers can reportedly amputate or lacerate children’s fingertips. Children are getting their fingers stuck in between the stroller’s side hinges while it is being opened or closed.
The South Norwalk, Connecticut-based company issued the voluntary recall in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall affects strollers manufactured in China sold since 1999 at stores including Babies R Us and Target. The following models are affected by the recall:
- Quest Sport
- Quest Mod
- Techno XT
- Twin Triumph
- Twin Techno
- Easy Traveller
These strollers range in price from $100-$400.
